Caught in the strings of fate, entangled for eternity...

Hello everyone, time to share another creation that I have held in my mind for a while. Life has allowed me some free time to do this again for a while. I wanted to make an RP that does not have the objective based feel that discourages new people. All the information given in this post will not be known to characters, they are simply waking up into this without any direction on whats going on or what happened.
Your character will awaken in a brand new existence, a land very different than they would of ever known. The land was formed by an unknown being, the puppet master. He controls the land in a indirect manner and can add things to it by whim. The characters will never get to know who the puppet master is, or that he even exists. His motive for putting them into this new world is unknown and will not be found out, whether he has a personality or not will not be known either. The puppet master is the person or thing behind it all, however he will not make an appearance or even be mentioned in the story. The reason why this is shared is to know that there is no escape from the world, and that there is no "main objective" to the plot. Your character is caught into the the strings of this fate, and they
will die here.
The World:There is no sun, nor moon, but instead a great magical amassment that gives off light. It sits very high in the sky and cycles from high to low brightness making a day and night cycle. The actual land is limited, the pseudo sun's rays don't reach indefinitely. The further away from the sun, the weaker its rays. The lit area has a diameter of a couple miles, the land beyond is the darkness where lurks malformed beasts that abhor the light. The lifeforms that live in the light are limited, but the puppet master designs new creatures occasionally to populate the world. The people who are going to be brought into this world will not be the only sentient beings too. Fairies live in the lighted areas and even in a large village towards the center of it. They are short, about 4 to 4 1/2 feet tall. The females have butterfly wings and the males have moth like wings. They aren't very smart and usually communicate with each other using soft sounds or short ranged telepathy. Since they are new beings in a brand new land, they do not have a history and are not afraid of anything except what lurks in the darkness. They will be curious if anything towards the characters. As previously mentioned, they are afraid of the creatures of the dark, which will venture out into the lighted area during the night cycles. The creatures will attack the fairies and anything else that isn't born of the darkness. As generally passive creatures, the Fairies usually just flee to their strong stone homes during the night.
Remember: Your character will not know these things! (Apart from the obvious)
While this may lack a general objective, there are still a plenitude things to discover and do that were not mentioned here (I have many things planned). Leaving an open plot seems like the best choice for new people who may want to join in on this as well. I will be assuming the role of the puppet master as well.
Character Creation:Everyone is a normal human that suddenly found themselves in this weird land after waking up. They can come from any time period you want, past, present, or future. The new land is a timeless place.
However, that does not mean your character cannot develop into something different... The powers from the light and the dark have perverse effects on the living.
