The Hunted Empty
PostSubject: The Hunted   The Hunted EmptySun Feb 23, 2014 9:40 am

Welcome to a world very much like our own. People go about their business day to day. School, shopping, driving, going to work, et cetera. But then something unordinary happens. Sirens blaring an armored van tears down the road, cars move off to the side of the road barely avoiding being hit as the driver of the van expertly dodges through the noon lunch rush. In back of the van sat a group of what most people would assume were members of an elite police force. They wouldn't be mistaken, not entirely anyway.
Control was an extension of the FBI and Homeland Security. The paramilitary group operated publicly as a peace keeping force that dealt with only the most extreme of threats to public safety. Threats that regular means could not defend against.
The van tilted onto two wheels before slamming down again then came to a stop. Rear doors thrown open as the Control Agents clamber out, black armor shining as the light hit it. Weapons to their shoulders they moved quickly through the parking lot. Stacking on the door of the business they didn't wait for the twin doors to slide open, instead they busted both panes of glass, tossed a grenade inside and entered after the flash.
Gunfire from inside followed by the crackling roar of fire. Out of the front door a person sprinted, going across the parking lot as fast as they could. The Agents came out after the Runner, armor smoking as they opened fire. The Runner spun around and loosed a fireball from his hand at the clustered group and the Agents dove aside to avoid the blast. Getting back to their feet they ran across the parking lot as their van sped in pursuit. The Hunt was on again.

There are two Factions in this RP; The Runners and Agents of Control.
Runners are people who were born with magical powers. Most of them only have control over one element and their strength with their power varies. Due to the fear of their abilities they must live their lives on the run, moving from one place to the next trying to avoid notice and keep their powers secret. There is no true way to tell who is a Runner or who isn't. However some people have the ability to sense a Runner's Aura. This is not a precise way to discover them.

Agents, sometimes called Eliminators, are the elite forces of the National organization under the FBI and Homeland Security known as Control. The organization spans the Globe and they have divisions in each country going by different names. Control hunts Runners and either captures them for experimentation or simply eliminates them. Some members of Control were once Runners who have been "Made Safe" by the Science Division of Control. Runners who have been "Safetied" by the Science Division become Agents of Control who can still use their powers, however these have been weakened, and depending on the individual their power may have been taken away completely.

You can always play as a regular old citizen who gets caught up in the action. Whether it's because you are aiding the Runners escape, helping to inform Control on their locations or are dealing with Dormant abilities, the options here are entirely up to you.

Abilities/Affinity: Abilities are singular things that a character can do. For example if your character has an ability that lets them teleport from place to place or to change the pull of gravity for a particular location. An affinity is more of a general use kind of magic. Examples for this can be a pyromancer who can control/create flames at will, or someone who uses water magic can also use ice due to ice being frozen water molecules.

Runners usually only have one affinity or two abilities. Two ability/affinity Runners are rare and the secondary ability/affinity is always weaker than the primary ability/affinity. Runners with abilities and no affinity can have abilities "in line" with their original ability and not suffer from the weaker secondary. In Line meaning that if a character has a teleportation ability to teleport themselves they can have a second teleport ability that would let them teleport objects that is about as strong as their ability to teleport themselves.
However if the abilities are "Out of Line" then the weaker secondary is in effect.

Character Info/Bio
Name:
Age:
Sex/Gender:
Affiliation:
Weapons: (If Any) Control Agents always have some kind of weapon. Runners can carry weapons too.
Ability/Affinity: (If Any)
IMPORTANT No Bunnying, God-Modding, Killing off other Player Character's without permission of their respective owners, or Countering someone's every move. This falls under God modding, but no Uber Characters or Uber powers. There has to be a weakness, whether by using magic your character burns their energy or they have some sort of inability to deal with a certain kind of threat effectively.

Name: Vyse Dewblade
Age: 20
Sex: Male
Affiliation: Runner
Weapons: Trash can lid
Ability: Controls Electromagnetism
Affinity: Electricity
Appearance: Caucasian, light brown hair

(Think i'll jump into it.)

Vyse was busy running from three men in mysterious armor through an alleyway. He jumped over a garbage can, grabbing the lid as he went. He channeled the powers he didn't quite understand and have come to hate over the years through the metal and threw it. It bounced around the brick walls of the alleyway, before cracking a pursuer in the head. The two men looked back at their comrade, thinking someone was attacking them from behind. Vyse took the opportunity and rushed forward charging electricity into his fists. His hands connected with the jaws of his pursuers, knocking them out on the ground.

The runner shivered at what he did, before running through the alleyway, and arriving on the streets on the otherside

The Hunted Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Hunted   The Hunted EmptySun Feb 23, 2014 4:33 pm

Kaylin shivered, crossing her arms she rubbed them trying to get warmth through friction. She hated always being so damned cold all the time! But maybe that was the price to be paid for her magic. Listen to that! Magic! She scoffed at her own mental words, yet it was true. She could do magic. It wasn't the spell craft that all the witches in movies and books did, it was more of a feeling, a sense. It was magic though. There was no other way to explain how she could create ice out of thin air regardless of the weather conditions. It seemed to be more of a curse than a blessing, especially in the eyes of her parents and fiance. She could still remember the morning she woke up for school and her room was coated in a layer of ice.
Dad had broken the door down and shaken her awake. His eyes held fear and anger. Kaylin had been groggy and confused when he woke her up. The cold helped the process but didn't help her confusion as to just "Why in the hell is my room full of ice?" Her parents either didn't care, or didn't want to understand. Their daughter was a witch. A dirty soul in contact with the devil and possessed by demons. He had tried to kill her, her father had. Instead of having to face shame by his daughter. Mother stopped him giving her just enough time to escape. She'd been running ever since. She had gone to her fiance first. Even though their marriage had been arranged before hand the two of them had really connected and did in fact love one another. However he had been less than pleased when she'd shown up on his doorstep, crying and bawling barely able to talk. He'd tried to help her at first but when she told him what had happened he told her to leave. The coldness in his eyes matched the ice in her room and she had fled.
Now here she was, a hopeless drifter with ice in her veins. Terrified of everyone and every shadow. The world seemed to want her dead. Church signs everywhere called the faithful to take up arms against Satan as the apocalypse must be imminent. They meant her and her kind of course. Plenty of people still thought it was all just a big joke. After all, people doing magic? As if! This was the Real World. But more and more were believing the news, seeing the videos and pictures online.
And then this group calling themselves Control comes up out of nowhere and began exterminating everyone who used magic. Because of them she was on the run. Because of them everyone hated her. Because of them her fiance had called it off and her parents didn't want anything to do with her.
Her shivering had turned into angered trembling instead of chilly shivering. Fists clenched she walked down the sidewalk, not caring that ice was forming on her skin at the moment. No one was around anyway. She stalked along, her skin steaming as the ice evaporated in the warm sun.

"I thought you would've thrown that away a long time ago?"
Raye took his partner's jest in silence. Stuffing the old photograph back into his wallet he let out a frustrated sigh.
"Still sore about her I see." The other man said.
"I am" Was all Raye said in reply. Marshall fell silent, knowing better than to push him when he was in a bad mood. Of course, Raye was always in a bad mood these days.
"So, do we have any leads today?" Marshall asked balling up the burger wrapper and throwing the paper into the trash can a few paces from the open car window.
"We have one." Raye said flipping open the ToughBook Laptop. He called up a GPS map of the area and panned over to a slowly flashing red dot on the screen. "There was a sighting just over there. On South and Liberty. A unit responded but the Runner got away. We're supposed to pick up the trail."
"What are we dealing with?"
"Reports say it was a Pyromancer."
"Your favorite."
"Yeah." Raye said gruffly. His fingers mindlessly traced the burn scars on his arm. "I thought she was still human then." Raye flashed back to that moment. Her frightened eyes, the tears, her body frozen in fear as he placed the barrel of his gun to her head. The wordless conversation they held when their eyes met as he slowly put pressure on the trigger. He had been a millimeter away from splattering her brains all over the wall behind her. It would have been finished then. But the boy came out of nowhere, flames in both hands. He threw one and then the other. Raye had been thrown away from her. His gun going off as he flew ricocheting harmlessly off the wall. The boy had fought him, fire against firearm. The irony of the phrase, "Fight fire with fire," had popped into his head during that moment.
She had killed his first partner. So he had killed hers. He watched as she took his phone and called 911 on it, telling them where he was. The look in her eyes when she told him goodbye, dropping the phone next to him on the ground as he lay there, skin smoldering. Then she ran off without looking back. That wast he last time he had seen her.

"You keep your eyes peeled. He's probably hiding in the alleys. Let's hope he isn't one of the Sewer Rats. I don't want to go back down there again this week."
Raye nodded in agreement. His hand brushed his wallet and Her smiling face popped into his head again. Why did he still love her? It didn't make sense! She was one of them! But he couldn't get rid of her picture. He'd sat there, holding it over the shredder, held it in his hands as he was about to tear it into pieces, or burn it. But in the end he stopped. It had a few small tears and there was the singe in the corner, but the damage wasn't serious. The picture was from their date just a few months before her impurity was revealed. Rage filled him at the indignation of it all.
The car drove along the streets, the two of them checking every alley they saw, every parking garage with no sign of the Runner. Marshall said he had a gift, that he could sense when they were near. So far his sense hadn't gone off. "I can feel it, Raye. He's just at the edge. We almost have him!"
She had been shy at first. Shy and awkward. But it was her timidness that had won him over at first. After that her spirit 0was what kept them together. The girl just hadn't taken no for an answer on anything. Always arguing to the last word every time. Her passion got to him. Now he was infected by her.
"See that guy? Looks a bit weathered. Think it's him?"
The man saw the car coming up behind him at a crawl compared to the posted speed limit. To his credit he didn't run, just began to slowly walk towards them. "Cocky bastard, eh?" Marshall said as he brought the car to a stop and rolled the window down. Hot air immediately began to raise the temperature inside the cabin forcing the AC to work at its limit to keep it hospitable. Sticking his head out Marshall called out to the man.
"Hey buddy! You see someone shooting flames from there hands near here?" A nod. "Can you tell us which way?" The man was close enough now that they could see his grin and the soot on his face. He swung a punch at the car and a blast of fire turned the driver's side door to slag in an instant. Marshall jumped across the console in a second. "SON OF A BITCH!"
Raye opened the car door and rolled out of the car, crouching on the asphalt. He drew his revolver. Six rounds was all he had, but it was more than enough. He saw the blood stains and the improperly made bandages. Marshall fell out of the car landing awkwardly with his back bent, half out of the car and half still inside. It was a simple matter for him. He stood up, took rough aim and fired. The man ducked down to avoid the bullet. Taking proper aim this time Raye fired again, the man toppled over clutching his stomach. Rushing around the front of the car Raye kicked the man knocking him onto his back. He fired a round into each of the man's limbs. He didn't see the man covered in old blood and soot anymore, it was her. He grinned as he saw her flinch and cry out in pain. Fire burned up her arms but a kick to her stomach put a stop to that. Flicking open the chamber he inserted six more rounds with a speed loader and snapped it closed again. He made sure to cock the hammer back manually, knowing the psychological impression this made. Then pulled the trigger. Her...His head seemed to sag against the concrete of the sidewalk.
Raye took his phone out and called in his report. All the while he couldn't get Kay Linn's smiling face out of his head. Once he killed her, everything would be right with the world again.

The Hunted Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Hunted   The Hunted EmptyMon Feb 24, 2014 7:34 am

Name: Virgil Wilson
Age: 24
Sex/Gender: Male
Affiliation: Runner
Weapons: Zweihander
Spoiler:
Ability/Affinity: Controls time in people sized pockets. May give the appearance of super speed or teleportation. He can not travel through time, but he may speed or slow the passage of time to his will. He may only use this ability when near what he has dubbed, "time tears". Otherwise, he is a moderate swordsman, with a silver tongue.

Ability: May also control time around other people or objects. Much smaller scale, and generally used for limbs, organs, or weapons. He could potentially age a weapon to make it old and brittle, or age a heart to cause it to cease functioning, or slow a heart during a heart attack to give time to save whoever it might be.

His accuracy becomes significantly worse with distance. 100% accurate by touch, and exponentially worse for every foot away from whatever he is time-shifting.

Appearance: Albino, and seems older than he really is due to time manipulation. (Very pale, greyish/white hair, red eyes.) Black jeans, black sleeveless vest, zweihander hung on his back.

Side note: Time tears are pockets of invisible energy, detectable only by Virgil, where the boundary between time and space has crossed, or in some cases, fractured. He takes this energy, and bends it around himself to his will. He may fast forward or slow days, weeks, months, so on. The time that he may alter depends on the energy of the tear. However, every time he uses one of these tears, he runs the risk of losing himself to the energy, in which case his body would be scattered into atoms throughout space and time. He had suffered an injury once, when he first learned of his ability, and that ability had taken all of the pigmentation from his body.

Virgil truly despised the daylight. He knew that it seemed cliche, but it physically hurt. That's why he choose to travel during the night. Which worked out well, since it was easier to move during the night anyway.

He was hardly able to keep track of the day; the month. Sometimes he didn't even know the year. When he chose to slow his time, it was as if the world was a blur. He almost had to close his eyes or else he would be driven mad.

He also hardly slept. When he would begin to see the sun rising, he would search for a time tear and skip to the next night, his body phased out of existence. All the surrounding world would feel is a presence.

You know the feeling that someone is watching? That someone is there who isn't? That was Virgil, and those like him. If others like him existed, that was. Those that transcended beyond time and space.

So here he was, again, walking. The most lonely man in the world, he mused. He wasn't actually lonely though. He enjoyed his lifestyle. He had once seen on the news that people called "runners" had surfaced, and he figured himself to be one. He wasn't running though. He was simply walking. His camouflage was impenetrable, after all. How can one find something that no longer exists?

He knew not where he was going, or why he was going, he just knew that he was going somewhere. Somewhere better. Somewhere wonderful.

He would find that somewhere, someday, when the time was right.

But even the master of time didn't know when that time would be.

The Hunted Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Hunted   The Hunted EmptyMon Feb 24, 2014 4:47 pm

Name: Vincent
Age:26
Sex/Gender: Male
Affiliation: Runner
Weapons: HIS FIST, HE GOES MAN MODE.
Ability/Affinity: Pyromancer, Fire elemental.

Spoiler:

The sound of a heart monitor was rezonating inside of a metal room. A test subject lay restrained on the table. It's been years since he has been contained. His only wish was death. He felt condemned, Like a phoenix. Maybe thats when his affinity started becoming stronger. The fire began raging inside, His soul was constant with burning embers. Letting go of his humanity in his setting was simple, regaining it was the task.

The sharp stainless steel knife cut into his chest, as surgeons began to pry inside of him. seeing any abnormalities within his anatonimcal structure, there still wasn't any. The anesthetics were enough to nullify pain after procedures. Once they finished with him they sewed him back up. The daily routine. Bread for breakfast, An apple for lunch, and a small collection of leftovers from the researchers. He wasn't treated like a human, he was treated like a rat.

Finally, One last procedure before his expiration. Before he would be put down like a stray dog from Lethal injection. Instead of surgery, they gave him an unknown serum. They never disclosed what it was. What they did, Was hold him down and Inject him with the serum. Initially it had no effect, but they changed his room. It was completely fire retardent. It seemed they expected a reaction out of it within a 12 hour timeframe. however there was nothing. They placed him back in his own room.

Finally, He took his last nap... And it all changed. The phoenix inside of him rose from the embers. His normal holding cell was engulfed in flames. his body was metamorphed into a new figure. He was no longer a being of reason or experimentation, He was a being of rage and death to those of whom deserve it. His illuminated ever so brightly white. Finally the cavalry came in.

Immediately they started to try and put out the fire to get to Vincent. But it was useless. the second they got too close He spread the fire to engulf them, burning them to death. The alarms sounded off, A Distress signal was sent to Central Command for the control group. They made a fatal mistake, The serum was made to amplify powers inside of the runners. They were supposed to cure the genetics, not amplify them.

Vincent, Head held high. Rage in his demeanor, His stance, and His walk. He stepped slowly to exit his cell. Armed troops began to pour in. Luckily there was only one angle for it. A Giant ball of fire was lobbed from his hand towards them. Incinerating everyone that it touches. There was no hope, There was no forgiveness, all there was. Was death.

Finally, Before anything furhter could happen, Vincent, Focused all of his energy. all the fire that was blazing in the building slowly drew back to him, creating a pillar of fire surrounding him. He let out a shout, releasing his focus, and sending a giant shockwave throughout the building, not only knocking everything over but also creating a path of escape.

As Vincent drew closer to an exit. He finished off The lab, Sending out one last shockwave. Which created an explosion. The entire structure collapsed on itself. He was unscathed, and walked away from The old lab. His ramapge didn't stop at the lab, Anything he saw within a 10 mile radius was in danger. He didn't care who, He didn't care what. He was blinded. In his mind, everything must die

PostSubject: Re: The Hunted   The Hunted EmptyMon Feb 24, 2014 4:56 pm

"There's the Runner! All units, fall in! Capture the target at all costs!"
The second that Roy heard this, he knew that his latest hiding spot had been discovered. In a panic, he leaped back down to the street and started running once again. He ran as fast as he could, managing to outpace the Control agents who chased him, but they would soon find a way to cut him off. But somehow, he always found a way to escape.
"Please...please, stop! Who are you people?! What do you want from me?!"
He yelled at the men who were chasing him every chance he could get, but they never responded. They just kept chasing him, like a pack of wolves hunting down their prey. He knew why they were chasing him...he had special powers. Powers that normal people hated. Powers they feared more than anything else. Eventually, Roy was backed into a corner with no hope of escape. He turned to his pursuers, trying to catch his breath with eyes wide in horror.
"It's over, Runner. Why don't you make things easier on yourself and come with us peacefully?"
Roy slowly backed away from the men.
"No...please...you have to believe me! I'm not a monster! I...I don't know anything about this! I'm just a regular person, you know? I'm a human being! You have to believe me!"
The men drew closer and closer as Roy backed up against a wall. The man who was approaching him directly took out his handcuffs. Roy pleaded with him to stay away, but the man didn't even break his stride.
"But I'm not...I can't...I can't believe..."
But just as the man was right in front of him, the look on Roy's face changed in an instant. He was...smiling. He had a wide grin on his face and he now spoke in a tone of voice that sounded confident rather than fearful.
"I can't believe you actually fell for that. You really don't know who I am, do you?"
Before the man could respond, Roy delivered a hard punch right to his head, knocking him unconscious immediately. One of the other Control agents who was nearby let out a gasp. That was all he could manage before Roy punched him in the stomach, then the jaw, followed by a reverse roundhouse kick to the the head, knocking him unconscious as well. The last two agents were just about to pull out their guns when Roy stuck his palm in their direction and unleashed a powerful blast of wind, slamming them both into a wall with enough force to leave some very large cracks in the wall. Obviously, they were knocked unconscious as well.

Roy walked up to one of the men and sighed.
"Just a bunch of rookies. But even then, I was hoping they would put up more of a fight than this. And they seemed so determined when they chased me all the way here..."
He shrugged and picked up the man's radio.
"Men down. It looks like one of them cracked his head, too...you might want to get an ambulance down here, I'm just saying."
After speaking into it, he casually tossed the radio over his shoulder and picked up the man's shotgun.
"Hey, this is pretty nice. I've got a buddy that'll give me some good money for it...you don't mind if I take this as a little souvenir, right?"
He gave the man a quick pat on the back, slung the gun over his shoulder and quickly made his way out of the building, just in case backup came in unusually early.

"Attention all units, all units! We have a report of an explosion at the Science Division R&D lab. All available personnel please respond immediately! Repeating, all units, all units! Possible explosion at the Main Science Division R&D Lab. All Available personnel respond." The female voice came over the radio on their patrol car. A low glow lit up the city skyline in the distance.
"Shit, what do you think those eggheads have come up with this time?" Marshall asked as he buckled his seat belt.
"No clue." Raye said pushing the selector on the dash. The light bar on top of the vehicle began flashing and the siren started blaring. He put the car in gear and then pressed the pedal down as far as it would go racing down the street towards the glow in the distance.

Kaylin's stomach was growling as she opened the door to the small diner. There was no one else there besides the waitress behind the counter and a man in the corner reading a newspaper while drinking coffee. Surprisingly cliche. She thought to herself picking up on the movie setting in real life. She approached the counter and pulled the old beat up wallet from her coat pocket.
"Hi, can I see a menu?"

The waitress looked at her grimy appearance skeptically.
"I have money." She said showing the loose bills in her wallet to the woman.
Reluctantly the woman handed her a menu although she didn't see Kaylin to a table. The options were few and there wasn't much other besides cheeseburgers and onion rings. But it was all relatively cheap and food was never something to complain about.
"I'll have this, please." She said and the woman asked for the money up front. Kaylin paid dutifully, knowing she was being discriminated against but she was so used to it by now. At least it seemed like they were actually willing to give her food.
"Wait here." The woman said and then vanished back into the kitchen. So Kaylin waited, gaze wandering over the decor, sneaking glances at the man in the corner who was dressed like he was a detective from the movies. The woman came back with a paper bag and handed it over to Kaylin.
"Thank you." She said taking the bag. Understanding the que she turned and walked out of the diner and headed off into the artificial glow of the city. As she was heading down the street she realized that the man in the corner was watching her through the window. Swallowing nervously she picked up her pace. Out of the corner of her eye she watched the man fold his newspaper and get up. She broke into a run.

The Hunted Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Hunted   The Hunted EmptyWed Feb 26, 2014 5:14 pm

After making his way out of the building and far away from the Control agents, Roy walked up to an all-too-familiar building that belonged to a "friend" of his. Without any kind of warning or notice, he opened the unlocked door and stepped inside as if he owned the place. He was greeted by multiple gun barrels being pointed right at him. Looking just as disinterested as he did before he walked inside, Roy just waved at the heavily armed men.
"Hey, guys. I see you're as paranoid as ever."
Once they recognized who the "intruder" was, the men groaned in annoyance and put their weapons away. A man in an expensive business suit then walked past them and approached Roy. His sunglasses, the large scar on his left cheek and his shaved head made him look...shady, to say the least. Roy couldn't help but laugh at the man's choice of clothing.
"Yeager...I gotta ask. What's with the suit? Please tell me you're going to a wedding, that'd be the funniest thing I've heard all year!"

Yeager simply chuckled and straightened his collar.
"I thought that I should try to look more...respectable in the eyes of my customers."
This made Roy laugh even more.
"Come on, why are you thinking about something like that? You're already the most respectable gun-running black market merchant I know!"

Yeager shook his head and sat down at his desk.
"Roy, you talk too much, you know that? If you're done insulting my fashion sense, let's get down to business. I suppose you didn't bring that nice little toy on your shoulder just to show it off."
Roy sighed and sat down at the other end of the desk.
"You're no fun at all. Fine, business first as usual."
He put his newly acquired shotgun on the table.
"Okay, so here's what I'm thinking. Since I still owe you for that very nice 1911 you made for me, I'll take a thousand for this and we'll call it even."

Yeager inspected the gun closely and gave his counter-offer.
"It's a decent gun, I suppose. How about I just take it off your hands and we call it even. I did put a lot of work into customizing that very nice gun of yours..."
Roy groaned. He always expects to get haggled with every time he walks into this building.
"I really don't want to do this today. Can we just say five hundred and call it a day?"

Yeager inspected the gun a little while longer and after some thought, finally agreed to the deal by shaking hands with Roy.
"It's always a pleasure doing business with you."
Roy did not look amused.
"I wish I could say the same..."

The Hunted Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Hunted   The Hunted EmptyThu Feb 27, 2014 11:55 am

The man was following her, she kept catching glimpses of him in windows as he trailed her discreetly. Why was he following her? Subconsciously she began to coat herself with ice, steaming in the warm night air she began to walk faster. The man kept up with her. Ducking into an alley Kaylin hid herself in the darkness. He paused at the alley mouth staring into the depths.
"There's no use hiding, Runner. Why don't you come with me? We can make all the pain go away."
She held her breath trying to be as quiet as possible. Frost slowly crawled across the ground and wall spreading out in a circle from her.
The man grinned in the dark. "There you are." He said and drew a large revolver from his coat pocket. Cautiously he began to move down the alley towards her, weapon held before him. He began clicking his tongue. As he got closer she saw the top of a detective's badge sticking out of his coat pocket.
Knowing he already knew she was there and that there was no point in hiding she stepped out, trembling not just from the cold that surrounded her.
"Ah ha. I knew you would be one of the smart ones." He kept the gun on her and reached into his pocket taking a cell phone and flipping it open. Whoever he was calling was on speed dial and he immediately hand the phone to his ear. "Detective Brady calling in. I have a confirmed Runner...Yes, Appears to be ice...Uh huh...Yeah let them know...I'm at-"
Adrenaline rushed into her system and before she even realized it the dart of ice had already left her hand. It skewered the man's phone and tore it from his hand. Her breath steamed out in large white clouds and she gathered the moisture in the air, freezing it all instantly.
The man took aim with his revolver and fired off two quick shots that ricocheted harmlessly off of the wall of ice that hadn't been there a second ago. The ice cracked and then shattered with the force of the impact. To his credit the man didn't swear or say anything, simply took aim again and fired two more shots.
Kaylin dove to the ground, the contents of her bag spilling everywhere. Her hand cocked back and then swung forward as she formed and threw another dart at the man. The needle tip penetrated his thigh making him grunt with pain. She through another just as he fired the last two rounds in his revolver. One went wide, the other spun her around and she fell face first onto the ground from her crouched position.
He flicked open the cylinder and took a speed loader form his pocket. Gun reloaded he advanced. Closing in he gently prodded the Runner with his foot. She didn't react. Either she was dead or was faking it. Carefully he lifted the girl's body with his foot and rolled her over.
Kaylin let out a pained gasp as she was rolled over. Her shoulder burned with an intensity she'd never felt before. Looking up into the dark tunnel above her her eyes widened, her mouth hung open slightly. Their eyes met, she saw her death. Grabbing his leg with her left hand she pushed as much of the cold inside her into his body. A cracking sound filled the air and the man's body stiffened and began to twitch. His clothing became covered in frost and his movements slowed. His finger tightened on the trigger and began to pull it... then it stopped.
She stared at the frozen detective her breath coming in quick gasps. Standing up took effort, but she managed it. She looked into his eyes, they were distorted by a thin layer of ice covering them but she looked into them all the same. Could he still be alive in there? Idle curiosity at the thought even with her elevated heart rate. In the end she realized it didn't matter. Unceremoniously she tipped him over and then turned and ran. A sound like breaking glass filled the alley.
Running down the street, her blood freezing as it ran down her arm and soaked her clothes. Sirens from behind her, lights flashing in front of her. She didn't care, she just ran. Out of breath, side aching in pain, she came to a stumbling stop and looked around. A small building declaring itself a Bed & Breakfast sat there. The windows glowed with warmth and she approached it reluctantly, knowing many people despised her kind. Would she have to kill them too?
The door opened outwards and she reached out to pull it but let out a soft cry of pain and her arm dangled back down to her side. Using her other hand she awkwardly opened the door and stepped inside. The interior smelled of cleaning materials and of baked bread and clean linen. Kaylin collapsed onto the first chair she found, clutching her right shoulder, blood still leaking out.

"An explosion," Raye said as him and his partner looked out of the car windshield. "Quite the understatement."
"No shit." Marshal said, the same tone of awe in his voice.
Before them sat a scene of destruction worse than nay either of them had ever seen in their lives. The street went on for a few more yards perfectly fine and then there was a line of black darker than the faded asphalt and beyond that point the street turned into a still photograph of a lava flow. Dark bubbles reflected the light from the headlights in thousands of different directions, cracks were everywhere the skeletons of cars could be seen. Some had sunk into the molten asphalt and where partly buried, others sat looking pristine in a coating of ash.
Raye put the car into drive and inched slowly forward. The street crunched under the tires and he feared that they'd fall through at any moment and tear the wheels to shreds. This was something he'd never even heard about before. The only thing close might have been Pompeii, but that was a volcano and there wasn't an active one around for hundreds of thousands of miles.
Around them the buildings looked on the verge of collapse. Large cracks ran up the cement and brick sides of many of them. Some buildings had collapsed already and many looked like they'd go at any moment. Looking down some streets there were buildings still ablaze. The two of them were baking even with the car's AC cranked all the way up.
"A pyromancer did this?" Marshal asked, not able to believe that anyone, even a Runner could produce this much destruction.
"I've never seen one strong enough for this. Maybe a gas line though."
"That's shit and you know it" Raye nodded in agreement with his partner's words.
"F^ck it's hot!"
They kept going, getting closer and closer to the lab with every moment. The closer they got them ore destruction there was. The forms of blackened skeletons could be seen littering the sidewalks in some places. Late night wanderers or store owners heading home. The buildings around here had all been leveled down to a single story.
"Command, this is Agent Lovac"
"Go ahead Agent Lovac"
"I'm approaching the site of the R&D Lab, I'm roughly half a block away. There's massive damage to the area. Requesting an aerial scan to see how large the effected area is."
"Copy that, Agent. Aerial scan to check the extent of damage. Will send results once we have them."
He let the car coast the last few feet, temperature gauge bordering the red line. Smoke was already pouring out from under the hood and underneath the noise of the AC he thought he could hear the rubber tires bubbling. He didn't want to risk getting any closer. If they went any further in the odds of them getting back out weren't looking too good.
"Can you see the lab?"

"Not really. I see steel beams it looks like, but I can't be sure. The way the rest of the street is looking I think it might just be completely gone." Marshall said peering through the windshield as best he could. The glass was starting to warp from the heat. "Raye, let's get the hell out of here."
"Yeah," he said, cracking a grin at the mention of Hell. This place sure looked like it. He turned the car around and drove out as fast as he dared on the compromised roadway. The AC died halfway back and the engine spluttered to a stop the moment they crossed the line back into the unburned area of the city. The two of them got out and walked away from the car and the alien landscape of destruction.
His phone played a recorded tone and he took it from his pocket. The picture on the screen was unmistakable.
A red circle in the middle of the i9mage designated where the Lab was supposed to be, there was nothing there now. The spread of the destruction stretched out for a city block in a perfect circle around the spot where the facility once existed.
Raye stared at the image in silence.

Marshall turned away, looked back towards the destruction. "What the hell happened?"

Lilly heard the front door open as she took the bread out of the oven. She smiled, hoping that it was her first customer. She dusted off her face, took off her apron, and walked into the front room. She saw a woman passed out on the chair. Thinking they had low blood sugar, she walked over to the woman. "Are you okay? What's wrong?" She asked.

The Hunted Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Hunted   The Hunted EmptyFri Feb 28, 2014 3:01 am

Once Vincent sucesfully escaped. He continued on his rampage for a short period of time, Anything, or anyone that got in his path was destroyed, melted, disintegrated, or smelted into nothingness. His trail of destruction was minimal but would span for miles. It left no trail, and since everyone was asleep it was never reported. instead, It will be found in the morning. When everyone is lively. Once Vincents rage died down he came back to reality. He didn't remember ever leaving the lab, but wasn't ever confused by it. he was relieved. He looked down at his hands, noticing they weren't human anymore. he did the same for his torso and so on. Nothing remained the same. He was morphed into something completely different. His humanity died that night. The monster was awoken.

Vincent knew that he could never return to mass public. Instead he had to remain a veil to public. But only out of sight of the ones who have a suspicion. Other runners would know instantly not to try and attack him, otherwise they would fall. If control ever found out his identity. It would cause a massive manhunt. Which wouldn't be what he wanted. And so, Vincent walked aimlessly around the streets for hours. knowing that he would never run into anyone that would be a threat to him. All he was concerned about was a place to stay hidden from everyone.

Vincent came to a stop when he was a squadron of Control response vehicles outside of an alley. And instead of walking towards it, he began to climb the buildings with ladders in an attempt to reach the top of the building. He would remain up there until the cops began to pour out. There was a bed and breakfast that appeared to be lively. And so he focused on that specific building for hours to come observing every movement that was made from the control squad. perfectly hidden by the darkness of night he had no concern about anything. He just remained tranquil and enjoyed the moonlit night.

He began to think "That serum, Has changed me. I am no longer the man I once was, I am now only the carnation of rage, hate, and death. Pestilence and Famine are no match for me, I will bend everything to my will, My creation, my life, my death. Everything shall end with me. I am... Eternity."

The Hunted Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Hunted   The Hunted EmptyFri Feb 28, 2014 7:41 am

Name: River
Sex: Female
Age: 21
Faction: Runner
Weapon: Zweihander with Flammenshwert blade
Affinity/Ability: Affinity, Water Ability, a kind of teleportation.
Weapon
Spoiler:
Spoiler:
The zweihander bounced on her back as she walked across the deck of the cargo ship. The old fashioned armor hung from her body weighing her down and trying to throw her off balance with the rocking of the ship. Placing a gauntleted hand against one of the shipping containers she stared out over the bow at the glimmering lights of the port city before her. The sight of land after a long time spent at sea always filled her with the joy that must have filled the hearts of sailors long ago. Of course the solid land would become stale and boring to her after a short time spent on it. Her heart ached for the vastness of the open sea. The main reason she had gathered herself a small crew on this large ship, a valid freighter that sometimes operated as a For Hire pirate ship.
The cargo that they would be offloading was legally obtained, as it usually almost always was. There were of course a few items that she'd have to sell through less reputable means. Her contact for the Black Market here, a man named Yeager, was reliable, and always prompt with his payments. Which was good since it was never a good idea to stab a Runner in the back. Especially one that had ties to the Vikings of old and several other warrior peoples renowned for their ferocity. In fact River thought of herself as a modern Viking, the reason she wore the cumbersome weapon all the time.
The ship's fog horn blared as a small personal boat passed too close to her bow for Thompson's comfort. The man was the best navigator they had so being the one in charge of the wheelhouse was a perfect position for him. His weather based magic was also quite useful in quick escapes. Having a ship crewed by Runners was a liability enough. The fact that the large Freighter had no official name, depending on which port they anchored in the name registered was sometimes completely different than at the one before. River and the rest of those on board refereed to the old tub affectionately as Forgotten. The old letters had faded into ambiguity and were not repainted, the registration number was also faded to the point that many of the numbers could be substituted for others.
The dock area was filled with other ships just as big as Forgotten if not bigger. Keeping her eyes peeled for anyone that could be Control or one of it's affiliate groups the freighter slowly made its way in to the assigned spot. Mooring ropes were tossed over the side and the dock hands tied the ship off. With docking finished she returned to the bridge, made sure everyone was reminded of procedures and protocols while ashore and then set off to make contact with Yeager. Leaving Thompson as her First Mate to oversee the offloading she set off through the harbor stumbling slightly as though she were drunk. "Damn land." She muttered to herself at her unsure footing.
Yeager's den was where it always was and she opened the door and was immediately greeted by an assortment of weapons pointed in her direction. "Always such a joy coming here."
"Yeager! Where are you? I have a few things that might be of interest for you."
A sound that could have been anything but was distinctly Yeager's voice came from somewhere near the back of the main room. She walked confidently to where the smuggler's office was at. Stepping into the small room she noticed a young man sitting at the desk, a shotgun still lay on the table.
"I have more Items from overseas if you're interested in business."

Codename: Vulture
Age: 16
Sex: Female
Faction: Control
Ability: Flight (Weakened, Unable to stay airborne for long periods of time. Can make multiple short leaps but cannot ascend higher than 10 stories can stay airborne for up to half an hour although doing so completely drains her energy)
Weapons: Machete and a Skorpion automatic pistol

Vulture crouched next to one of the men that the Electric Runner had attacked. He was a resourceful one, but she doubted he'd ever been up against his own kind. With a predatory grin on her face she pursued the man, knowing that he couldn't get away. Up ahead she saw him skulking through an alley. Reaching down into herself she opened the gateway and felt the familiar rush of her power fill her. But the feeling was hollow, she derived no joy from it as she seemed to simply run up an invisible flight of stairs. Ever since those men and their needles had gotten into her, she'd been different.
She fell from the sky and landed lightly in front of the fleeing Runner. She cocked a smug grin at him and drew her machete.
"You'll hurt a girl's feelings if you run away from her." She said putting a fake pout on her face.

OOT Vulture is going after Vyse

The Hunted Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Hunted   The Hunted EmptyFri Feb 28, 2014 8:34 am

After calling out to the woman down the hall, Yeager let out a sigh and turned back to Roy.
"Why don't any of you people ever use the passwords I give you? Aren't you tired of my men pointing guns at you all the time?"
Roy shrugged with a slight smirk on his face.
"Your passwords are too hard to remember. Personally, I just can't be bothered; I guess some of your other customers feel the same way."

When River entered the room, both of them turned around. Yeager greeted her with a smile.
"Captain River, it's always a pleasure. And with such perfect timing, too."
He then turned back to Roy.
"You were just on your way out, correct?"
Roy scoffed, but he still stood up from his chair.
"Real smooth, Yeager. I can take a hint."
He turned to River and waved to her on the way out of the room.
"He's all yours, good luck."

When Roy walked out of the building, Yeager turned his full attention to his latest guest.
"So, what can I help you with today, Captain? I assume you have some new...acquisitions that you'd like to part with?"

After leaving Yeager's place, Roy wandered the streets for a while. He was going in the general direction of where he parked his RV. The reason he lives in an RV is because he doesn't want to take the risk of staying in one place for too long, like an apartment or a house. On the way there, a nice-looking bed and breakfast caught his attention. He remembered that the place opened just recently and he thought about checking it out.
"Home is still a few miles away...maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to crash here for the night."
He looked towards the entrance, shrugged his shoulders and started to walk in.
"It's worth a shot. Here's hoping they've got some good food."
He didn't expect what he saw when he walked inside. He saw a young woman bleeding from the shoulder and another young woman trying to help her. He raised an eyebrow in surprise.
"So...did I come at a bad time?"

Vyse jumped backward, examining the chick in front of him. Judging by the way she dropped down in front of him, he realized she must be granted a special power. He watches her draw a machete and suddenly he realized this person was no friend of his.

"So your a friend of those bullies?" Vyse asked as he held two trash can lids in front of him and began charging electricity through them

"Friend isn't exactly the right term there, Spark Plug. More like, Mutually Benefited Opposed Parties." She laughed at the look of confusion on the Runner's face. "I hate them, all of them. But at the end of the day working with them outweighs fighting them. Really, you should give it a try." The blade twitched in her hand, and before Vyse could react she was suddenly in front of him, blade arcing dangerously at his head. A clang filled the alley as the machete came in contact with one of the trash can lids. She moved quickly, her attacks lightning fast due to practiced training. Every now and again she'd use her power, flip over top of him and then attack from behind, or from the side. Her energy was draining but she could see her opponent's frustration rising. He'd slip up soon, do something rash. And then down he'd go, another one for the containment team.

River nodded to the man as he stepped out. She took the now vacant seat. "Well I've got these artillery pieces stowed away in my hold. Some logistical mix up by the British army. But I need to get them moved out somewhere. you willing to buy?"

"Not really. Just in time to stop me from bleeding to death." Kaylin said to the stranger.

Virgil had been watching the news headlines through an electronics shop window from some time now, but he was beginning to draw attention. An albino standing on the sidewalk with a massive sword wasn't something people tended to ignore.

Virgil had made a decision as the news clips flashed through, showing control propaganda and runner-protection protests, occasionally showing a clip of what some reporter assumed was a runner. Several of them, actually. He didn't recognize any of them, but he didn't imagine he would.

Virgil scratched his head for a moment before putting his mirrored aviators back over his eyes. It helped to hide his condition. The pale skin wasn't a dead giveaway, but the red eyes definitely were.

He stepped into an alley, and then into the void, beginning his reconnaissance mission. He nearly halted time as he walked through the city, taking note of any odd occurrences, and letting himself into many "off limits" areas. When he stopped to look, his form would appear for a moment, before disappearing once more into the food.

One by one, he made a visit to every active runner and control agent he could find.

For a long time he had hidden in the shadows of time, but today was the day the game began.

A game he would never lose. Today could be the only time for it. The emergence of so many new players could be no coincidence. This is what he had been waiting for, for all that time.

OOT: You've all just seen a sudden flash of Virgil before you. None of you have any idea who he is. Take it as you will. Perhaps you can connect to it to a time you saw a similar man appear and disappear, whatever. Or perhaps control has a (small and rather lackluster) file on him, but no real evidence of his existence past civilian reports.

Vyse attempted to counter this chick attacking him with her swords, but her method of combat was impressive. What was more surprising was her ability to jump over him, and then what she said made sense. He charged both trash can lids with electricity and threw them over her head, seemingly left him exposed. He then frowned and said "Have you ever thought the enemy of your enemy is your friend? Maybe working with the jerks who make you fight, you fight against them for a better life." as he watched the trash can lids richetting off the walls of the alleyway behind his attacker

Vincent caught a glimpse of a white flash out the peripherals of his eyes. His attention to the stars were adverted. A brief moment he felt like he was being watched, and then the feeling disappeared. It oddly wasnt ominous, It comforted him. After the odd occurrence happened Vincent stood up. He went to the ladders he climbed up and went back down to street level. He began to walk down the street aimlessly.

"If Control comes near me, They will know immediately I am a runner, They will attempt to battle me, and they will fall. My purpose will be fulfilled. I will disrupt the cycle of life, and destroy anything that stands in my path. Even the earth if that is the fate that must be suffered for this disgusting way of life." his inner thoughts suggested he realized his power. He accepted it. And had a bloodlust.

Vincent was beginning to enter a heavily control influenced part of the city. He was aware. But he wanted to make a debut. He would pick out a member of Control to know of his existence, sending Control into a manhunt for Vincent. Business as usual would continue. But, They would have a face to the madness of the Lab that burned down.
