Kari walked over to Nikita and started picking him up placing his arm around her shoulder in order to lift his weight
"A little help, the faster we get outta here the safer we are from the zombies"

"Nowhere is safe." Mara said mindlessly, reciting the mantra she had heard somewhere. Helping lift Nikita between the two of them they made their way to the house. Steve opened the door for them and they ceremoniously dumped Nikita onto the couch in the living room. Panting from the exertion Mara sat down on the floor. Digging around in her pack she let out an irritated noise.
"Anyone have any water they're willing to give up? I'm all out it seems."

Steve dropped all the stuff he was carrying. It had been a long day for him, and wondered what could happen next. He walked around the room they were in said "I don't know, I kinda forgot what I stole from the lockers at the school. Your free to check, but it's mostly locker doors." as he glanced towards Nikita wondering what was up with him

"You should get some rest." Mara said in a slightly commanding tone. "How else will that wound heal?" She looked at Vyse, "there should be some beds still in okay shape that are still comfortable."

"Thanks Mara, i'll trust you two to keep watch here." Steve said as he grabbed his baseball bat and left the room. He through the house and opened a door at the end of the hallway

Kari looked in her bag
"I have a couple water bottles here I grabbed before I left"
she tossed one to Mara then closed up her bag before turning to look out the window
"well I looks like I'm staying here for the night can't go out in the dark like this"

Mara took the water bottle gratefully and opened the cap with a snap. She took a mouthful of water and swallowed. "Night is actually a good time to travel. Sound seems to echo which gives you some cover. You take it slow and careful and there should be no trouble. Go thrashing around like an idiot and you'll be bringing a horde down on whoever you run in to." Another small drink from the bottle in order to conserve it. She yawned after swallowing.
"Anyway, what're you doing all the way out here? This isn't exactly a new area. There's that settlement over to the west. They've grown pretty large in the last two years."

Steve opened the door, and found a queen sized bed in the middle of the room. He searched the room to make sure there were no zombies hiding anywhere. Feeling satisfied that no zombies were going to climb out from under the bed or anything he laid on the bed and sighed with relief.

Kari turned to look at Mara
"I came here for something very important to me"
she shrugged
"Most people would have said i was stupid for traveling all this way for it but it means that much to me i was willing to risk it"
she turned to look out the window
"I'll have to head back soon before everyone starts to worry"
