He shrugged.
"Sure, sure, whatever..."

Varen blinked at her question, surprised and utterly confused. Go BACK to the castle?? Varen had never laid eyes the castle walls, let alone actually meet the king and queen in person. Even more surprising, was that Lucy has. "Uhh....." He was at a loss for words, seeing the king and queen in person was a great privilege. Even a scruffy orphan boy like him knew that growing up. "....Sure." He finally replied, still confused.

Varen smiled back at Lucy, forgetting his confusion in an instant.
"Well... I can't let a beautiful woman go to see royalty on an empty stomach." He said, chuckling a little. He had accidentaly let the 'beautiful woman' remark slip and didn't even notice he had said it.
"We'll go get dinner first and then we'll head for the castle. Does that sound good?"

Varen wondered for a second what Lucy just thanked him for, then he realized he had called her beautiful. He blushed a little,
"Oh... Yeah, no problem." He said nervously.
"Alright, let's go eat! I'm starving." He chuckled as he started walking with Lucy to the inn.
He held the door open for her again.
"After you." He said with a smile.

Varen smiled, "Well I do try my best." He replied before closing the door and heading over to the table Lucy had chose to sit at and taking a seat across from her.
"So... I must ask you... You met the King and Queen?" He asked her with great curiosity.

Varen had forgotten about Vincent. He had forgotten Lucy's feelings for him. Remembering these things made his heart sink, he had this feeling of overwhelming jealousy. Why... Do I envy Vincent....? He asked himself.
"W-well I'm sure he will come back." He said, trying to cheer her up in any way he can.
"Who knows? Maybe he's back at the castle on official business or something. You may see him there."
He felt a strange stabbing feeling in his chest as he said those words. These strange, unexplainable feelings were driving him mad. After a moment of thought, he had a revelation.
Could it be..... I'm.... in love?...

Varen thought about what he wanted to eat, desperately trying to get his mind off his feelings for Lucy and his feelings about Vincent.
"Hmm... I think I'll have fried harbor codfish and a baked potato." He replied before looking back at Lucy.
"What about you?"

"it sounds like I missed a lot then. When I said master, he actully wanted to see how good I was but that was a mistake."
he looked at zerron as he walked to him.

"hey sean, I think you dropped this when you where taken."
he pulled out sean's knife and handed it to him.... but he throught it was odd that he wasn't taking it.
"you can thank me later"

he saw the knife.
so he has that dagger......
"you can keep it, I don't think I'll be needing it anymore."
in his mind, he knew what would happen if he took it back. it would mean going back to sleep.

Varen felt his heart skip a beat when Lucy smiled up at him. Aw crap... I AM in love... He thought.
"Yeah, that's fine." He replied, smiling back as the innkeeper made his way to their table. Varen ordered for the both of them before handing him his menu and looking back at Lucy.
...I'm in love with a woman who loves another...

Varen smiled at Lucy
"It's no problem at all." He replied.
"I've been wanting someone to talk to as well. With Ty and Trinity I always feel like I'm getting in the way. And I didn't leave a very good first impression on the others after I... Well... Attempted to rob them." He nervously laughed off the last part.
"I'm glad to have met you though, you're a great person to talk to."

Varen thought for a moment about how to respond to that.
"Well... Because... I'm a thief. And they looked like good targets." He replied frankly.
"I learned how to steal at a very young age, and I just never stopped. It helped pay for food, and shelter... Its how I'm paying for this meal."
He looked into Lucy's eyes to gauge her reaction to what he had just said.
