"I was created to have knowledge. It's literally my raison d'etre. Now, excuse me while I fetch you something to eat then." He slipped out. Then he popped his green head back in.
"Pleased to meet you Fay, I can tell we're going to get along." Then he vanished again.

Stake had been staring at the table the entire time, his eyes wide, looking almost drugged in his slow breathing...

fay looked at stake he looked like something was bothering him
"are you doing ok?"

He tried to look at her, but it was like the table was hypnotizing him.
"I was put together here... A lump of clay, given life and made flesh..."
He ran a hand along it's surface.
"It... feels... weird..."

she looked at the table then back up at him
"you still alive tho, even if your not fully mortal, you still breath like we do"

He shook his head, still staring, sounding dreamy, far away.
"Grass breathes, yet we trample it underfoot... Trees are alive yet we cut them down... I'm neither of those things... yet I'm not a person..."
A terrifying thought struck him and he swayed as it hit.
"I'm going to be alone..."

fay looked up at him
"your not going to be alone, i told you that you could stay with me if you wanted"
she smiled warmly towards him

He turned to her, looking more serious than he'd ever had with her.
"And what about when you die, of old age if nothing else? I don't age. I can't die."
He seemed to look through her and beyond.
"Am I destined to... wander forever, never allowed to make friends because in the end... they'll all be dust, and I'll still be there..."

she thought for a moment
"do you know if your creator is still alive? if he is then maybe we can find him and talk with him i think i have an idea that might help"

He refocused on her - just being in this place seemed to make him more mature, more grown up.
"I don't know. Arthur will though. And what's your idea?"

she looked at the table
"well maybe he can create another like you someone who could be with you always and your wouldnt have to worry about them dying"

"Well... that... that would be... great..."
His voice trailed off into silence.
"But what if he can't?" he said so quietly it was almost a whisper...

she thought for a moment
"well if he cant then im sure we can find someone out there for you, this world is full of different types of people, we will find someone out ther for you its worth a shot right?"

He smiled at her.
"You're right...thank you... I really appreciate having met you now..."

she smiled
"well i sure hope so"
she looked around
"i wonder where arthur went "

fay looked up at arthur
"yes he has, but i had a little talk with him and i think he is doing better now"
she looked over at the pies
"thank you"
she glances up at flint but doesnt say anything and proceeds to cut herself a piece taking a bite of it

Stake started munching, watching them talk, thinking...

"Oh, come on! Stop this awkwardness, it's not very conducive to anything! Huh... it seems you insist on awkwardness... oh, just do what you want, I don't care anymore. By the way, do you mind if I borrow you for a moment, Stake?"

Stake blinked. "No..."

"Lie on this table would you? I wish to do some poking around, see how you tick..."

Stake obeyed, and Arthur started prodding and poking...

fay looked up at flint
"sorry for what?"
she looked over at stake
"you better be careful with him, dont you hurt him"

Stake winced, and Arthur looked up at Fay as he cut Stake's back open and started scooping stuff out his back.
"He can't feel pain, remember. Some minor unpleasantness, at best. And stop being meek, boy - it really does't work for you."

fay shook her head
"its fine we were put in a rather awkward situation, and sorry for kissing you"
she watched arthur
"and how do you know it doesnt hurt him?
