patience waved her hand
"yeah im fine, just stood up too quickly"
she pushed open the door and gestured him to come in
"you can use the spare room down the hall to your right"
she looked up at him
"the room at the end of the hall is off limits, go in there and your liable to get shot"
she pushed herself off the wall and started towards the room thats off limits
"shut the door on your way in, and no funny business that will get you shot as well"

patience stopped turned around and walked up to him and stood in front of him looking up
"its my room and its completely off limits, go in that room and like i said your liable to get shot"
she turned and started heading towards her room, she miscalculated her footing and tripped over her own feet landing flat on her stomach
"ow that gonna hurt in the morning"

The man picked her up off the floor with one hand and set her back on her feet, dusted her down, then promptly picked her up by the scruff of her neck like an errant kitten and went into her room carrying her effortlessly.
"Why is this room forbidden to me?"

Once upon a time, Matty mused, Paxton simply wouldn't have gotten up if he'd fallen over and left his neck exposed like that to someone like him. However...
He leaned out of the window, having heard the noise and spotted Paxton.
"Hey! Buddy! Ya quite alright there?" he shouted to the face-down figure.

patience started squirming
"put me down, and its off limits cause its my room"
she tried to wriggle loose of his grip
"i dont want you coming in and perving on me while i sleep, i dont know you therefore i dont trust you. now put...ME....DOWN!!"

"What is this, night of the Samaritans? Eeesh..."
Matty vanished from the window, only to emerge with two handkerchiefs. He lifted up Paxton, making sure to not jolt him in a way that might make it worse, and started mopping up the blood from his nose. When enough had been wiped away for now, he helped Paxton to his feet, and helped him into the ramshackle hut. He sat him down in a chair next to the stricken Daniel and the doctor, double-checking he was OK.
"Listen here, pardner. Just sit here. Dab your nose with this hanky until it stops. Then take ya time, getcha bearings, and try to look out for nails and stuff, okay?"

"No. I will not put you down. I will carry you around for ever and ever and you will be my new huggy toy."
The man sounded sarcastic as he placed her gently on her bed and looked around her room.
"Your room is very nice. I sleep here tonight, yes?" And before Patience could answer, he curled up on the floor and went to sleep immediately.

patience was about to tell him he couldnt but it was already to late. she mumbled to herself. grabbed the blankets from her bed and stomped off to the spare room

"tell someone not to enter your room and they do it anyways. cant a girl get some privacy...ugh"
she fluffed up the pillow on the bed roughly and settled down into it
"he better not break anything while he is in there"

Daniel had long dozed off into quite a refreshing nap. Only to be awakened by Matty Shouting and a shooting, throbbing pain from his bullet wound. It still was hurting and despite that Daniel shifted his weight over to stand himself up, putting all the pressure of standing up on on the opposite side of the bullet he stood. His shot leg wad a little raised. He picked up his clothing and put it on slowly, starting with pants. It was a hard process but eventually he got it done.

He started to limp towards his room. He picked up his holster from the ground placing a 6 shooter in it. It was loaded, and he stuffed around 60 bullets in his pockets. He limped back into the living room of his house, and sat down on the couch, luckily a bottle of whiskey was on the table, a glass was just as near. He poured himself a glass, and slowly sipped it.

"Thank you Matty, Though I'm not in excellent shape I need to keep moving. I would hate to trouble you. But tomorrow, I need to go hunting, Whether I kill horse, buffalo, or wild cow, I care little for. I just need food, As I am running low. I need someone to guide me. And haven't much of a choice but to request your services. I have a spare room you can stay in. And plenty of alcohol."

looking over to the new person in the house, Sent Daniel into a more alarmed state. Though he wasn't going to kick him out. He wished that he was at least consulted.

"And you may be?" he said over to Paxton.

Matty raised an eyebrow.
"You sound like you're waaaaay outta your depth, kid - how come they didn't send someone with more experience, lay of the land, that sorta thing? No offence here, I admire the work of our Lord and all, but you're just a pup. Might not be much younger than me, true, but in some parts round here people'd kill ya as soon as look at ya."

He eyed the letter in the boy's hand.
Straight and narrow, Matty, straight and narrow...
"Daniel, you mind if I leave ya with the good doc and escort our buddy Paxton here to the church? No offence again, kid, I'd worry sick about ya alone at night in this town."

The large man promptly carried Patience's entire bed into the spare room and settled down in there.
"Much more cozy, yes?" and before Patience could react, he once again instantly dropped off to sleep.

patience sat up as he walked into the room
"cant a girl get some privacy?"
she looked over at him slumbering
"ugh ill never get any sleep"
she rolled on her side and laid in bed wide awake there was no point in moving both beds were in the room now, the only other place was the livingroom and he would most likely move both the bed in that room
"you had better put that bed back in the morning"
she mumbled and stared out the window of the room

"I advise handing over that letter to me, I am the appointed father of this land here Paxton, In fact, I don't think you quite understand where you were sent, you see. Missionaries that generally walk around here don't get passed the Tavern. This is a land of vicious murderers and bandito's. We have gotten a higher Mexican population here recently. And they aren't as kind as our natural born citizens."

Daniel spit on the floor, He was clearly lying, but sounded convincing enough, at least he thought so. Though his own living right now was hell it wasn't enough to stop him from day to day labor. He turned his head towards Matty.

"I reckon you wont have to venture far. However, The docs work is done, and since he ain't responsive at the moment, I don't think he will he doing much."

Daniel leaned over to pick up the letter. He placed it on his lap, leaning back over towards the table to pour a second glass of whiskey, for him and Paxton. He pushed the cup closer to paxtons direction.

"If you went where? specify, being vague doesn't exactly lead me to believe you're a man of god. Also, stop being so nervous it will increase your odds of survival here. I cannot exactly protect you in my current condition. Nor would my protection be beneficial to anyone but me... Tell me, Does the paranormal intrigue you?"

The change in the kid's demeanor took Matty off guard, and he saw some steel in this kid's backbone. But the moment he started talking about demons and ghosts, he let out a hoot of derision.
"The supernatural? You pulling my leg, boy? The only thing supernatural round here is how can ya still have such a loony attitude." He suddenly remembered he was trying to be a nice guy this time round, and he shook himself.
"OK, no offence kid, but I ain't seen one thing in this world to tell me that people that died come back in any way, and I sure as hell ain't met no damn demons. If I do, I guess I'ma gonna see how much it takes to kill one."

The man sat up silently, noticing Patience had been off-set by his actions. Feeling bad, he stole out of the room for an apology present.
When Patience awoke, she found roses all over the floor of her bedroom, de-thorned so she wouldn't hurt her feet, and making her room smell sweet as a garden. She had also been placed in her own bed, as well as tucked in gently - while the man was sleeping in the spare bed, his hands wrapped in reddened bandages.

Daniel stood up once again, and limped his way over to the kitchen grabbing a box of matches, and a separate piece of sandpaper to ignite it. The letter was still in his hand. And so, He sparked the match, and set the note on fire examining the letter as it began to ash. It had barely any embers but they were there. Grabbing his cup of whiskey he put down another sip.

"Paxton, There ain't no Christians in this area that church you heard about and maybe even seen has been used by gangs for masses and planning various omens, mainly murder. You see I ain't able to walk because I was shot, Don't remember why, Don't know how. But it fucking kills... As for demons, Matty. In the most literal sense, They dwell inside you and I. It is what gives us the capability of evil we must nullify our urges in order to keep some sort of divine and moral standpoint."

Daniel slowly moved his body slumping down to a laying position. He looked up at the roof, of his terrible shack. And gathered words.

"Matty, Tomorrow morning, 6AM Sharp, we hunt."

patience awoke the next morning. the room smelled different. she sat up in her bes and looked around seeing the roses scattered around her room
"what in the...."
she stepped out of her bed and picked up a rose and smelled it
"patience you have got to stop drinking soo much"
she shook her head then looked over at the spare bed noticing a rather tall man laying down. she walked over the the bed and looked at him.
"how did he get in here?"
she tapped him on the shoulder
"who are you and what are you doing here?"
she noticed the bandages on his hands then looked at the rose in hers
"did you do all this?"

Aaaand just like that, the kid was hopeless.
Matty put his hands on the boy's shoulders.
"Listen, kid. Seein' as I'm being this guy's nanny, might as well be your escort. Now then, calm down, don't panic, if anyone tries pointing guns at you, I will handle that. You do what you came here to do, I'll help. Kay?"

The man nodded, getting up again to his full height.
"You gave me lodging last night, so I thanked you as so." He indicated the roses everywhere.
"Forgive me if I got blood on the floor." He cocked his head.
"Do you like it?"

patience looked around the room
"well its certaintly different"
she looked back at the man
"no one has down anything like this for me before"
"she held out her hand for a handshake
"i probably didnt introduce myself to you, my name is patience. and if i didnt anything crazy last night i apologize"
